Facile Futures is seeking two independent facilitators to join our team and serve families in two separate regions.
We are seeking facilitators for:
a) London-Middlesex & area
b) North Perth, Huron East & area
Position Summary:
Position: Independent Facilitator
Reports to: Executive Director
Department: Family Support Team
In each position, the Independent Facilitator will assist people with a disability and their families, in an individualized and person-centred way, to plan and take action towards their vision for a good life.
This may include:
- building a vision
- keeping people and their families informed of their options
- supporting the development of short- and long-term goals
- offering guidance and advocacy around how to navigate various systems and supports
- building community connections that foster valued roles and lead to belonging
The facilitator will mostly work on their own, but may also work in collaboration with other facilitators on our team, depending on families’ needs and current projects. Facilitators will be expected to tap into their many connections to community, personal interests, ideas and creativity to develop opportunities and facilitate connections for people. The facilitator will support people to think creatively and explore possibilities for building a good life, firmly rooted in community.
Working from the belief that community is the starting place for inclusion and belonging, the facilitator will work collaboratively with each person, as well as their family and support circles, to help them be proactive and prepared for various stages and phases of their life. A majority of the facilitator’s time will be working with people who have a disability — at various stages of life — to imagine a meaningful life.
This entails:
- building a vision and identifying valued roles and pathways they would like to explore
- ensuring essential applications for services and funding are completed
- actively building connections in communities that will support people and their families to develop sustainable, reliable and relevant relationships in the community where they live
In addition to direct work with families, the Independent Facilitator will also work to leverage community capacity and leadership. In collaboration with the Facile Futures team, the facilitator will support the organization to keep a “finger on the pulse” of the current and emerging needs of the people they support, seeking allies, collaborators, unique opportunities, and innovative solutions for addressing the challenges people with a disability and their families are facing.
The scope of these positions also includes supporting events, developing resources, and some community outreach work.
