Facile Futures Announces 2026 Cohorts for Housing Vision Course

Facile Futures is offering two cohorts of its Exploring a Vision for Home course in 2026, including one set to kick off in early June.

Exploring a Vision for Home is a discovery process designed to help people with a disability and their families create a vision for what home looks like. The guided process includes:

  • opportunities for family-to-family learning
  • storytelling
  • one-on-one facilitator support

This planning opportunity is designed as a jumping off point — a first step in creating an individualized housing plan. At the end of the planning process, each participating family will walk away with:

  • a housing brief outlining a personalized housing vision
  • practical next steps for exploring housing opportunities
  • recommendations for individualized support solutions

Completing the Exploring a Vision for Home planning process is a time commitment of approximately eight hours for families. This includes two one-hour online presentations with group discussion, and two planning sessions working one-on-one with a facilitator to develop your personalized housing brief.

The program’s online presentations will take place on set dates shared at the beginning of each cohort. These sessions will be recorded and made available for any participants that can not attend on these dates. Time working with our facilitators will be scheduled to suit each family’s availability, and is typically offered virtually. Requests for in-person facilitation should be made in advance of registration.

Participation in the program is $400 per family, (HST included). This program qualifies as a person directed planning expense, and costs go directly toward covering facilitator hours.

What the 2025 Cohort Says:

“We really liked the think-outside-the-box experience…We felt free to express frustrations about wanting our person to enjoy the full extent of their abilities and community involvement.” — Parent Participant

“It was an exciting opportunity for us to vision our 19-year-old daughter’s future with her! The facilitator facilitated the conversation with enthusiasm, optimism and wisdom. She shared a lot of information with us, and captured the conversation beautifully. We now have a list of concrete tasks we need to accomplish in the next year, and look forward to picking up the conversation again in a few months. Thank you, Facile Futures, for showing us what can be possible!” — Parent Participant

“Working with Facile Futures has helped our family to see the positive possibilities for the future. It is so helpful to have options laid out in such a clear fashion.” — Parent Participant

“We were impressed with their ‘Think Outside the Box’ approach to finding ‘home’ for our loved one. We learned about micro boards, laneway houses, apartment options. We were confirmed in our understanding that it is possible to create the right fit for our daughter. We felt the difference from the start. This was not a take it or leave approach to shaping our daughter’s future. At every turn it was: ‘How can we help to best assist you to find the model that is right for you.’” — Parent Participant
