Testimonials from past Safe and Secure Book Clubs:
“Participating in the Safe and Secure Book Club was a life-changing experience for us as parents of children with exceptionalities. With the expertise from the authors and the guidance of our facilitator, we were challenged to overcome our fears about our sons’ futures and take the steps needed to plan for a good life for them. It was so reassuring to be going through each chapter with other parents with similar challenges and fears as our family, and we learned so much from others in the group along the way. After participating in the book club, we now feel like we have the tools that we need to provide more security and safety for our kids in the years to come. We were inspired to tackle everything from revising our wills and Henson Trusts, to creating a network for our son, and even having more meaningful conversations with our family and friends. As a result, we now feel more positive about the journey ahead and we’re hopeful that our kids will have a brighter future.”

“The Safe and Secure workshop was great. It was extremely helpful to work through the book together in a group. It was so helpful to brainstorm and get different ideas and share resources with everyone. It was comforting to know that others are facing the same challenges as we are. The vision for our child is more clear now, and I know the next steps we need to make to go forward so that he has the meaningful life we have always wanted for him.”

“We are so grateful to Facile for allowing us to be a part of the Safe and Secure Book Club. By creating a safe space for families to meet, learn and share with each other each week, our facilitator helped us to clarify our vision for the good life that we want for our sons and their future. We learned so much about the next steps that we need to take as a family to create safety and security. Not only did we come to a deeper understanding about specific tools like RDSPs, trusts, housing options and wills, but how they can all work together. And, by meeting each week with other families facing similar challenges, we felt like we were not alone and more deeply connected with our community. The creative thinking and support of Facile and the other families involved with the Safe and Secure Book Club has left us feeling more hopeful for our sons and for our community as a whole.”
